so I was a bit drunk while watching it, but did any one seem to feel that there was an entire back story that was not shown, all the aliens in the different smaller/recon looking armor seemed to be much more friendly then they bigger aliens in the assault style armor, even to go so far as to show the commander what they have done to another planet, heck later one even let a guy go who should of been stoped if not killed. he was even friendly to a degree to him ?
I would think that originally they where going to have 2 races but made them all the same to condense the story, i.e. one race from the planet that was messed up and conscripted, and the others being the conquers.
whats your all idea on this? seems like there was a lot that got cut out of the full movie that would of made it better imho.

It's a movie to a board game. There was no plot that I could see or sense. There were so many holes in the script that a moth would starve to death if she tried to digest it.

I love alien invasion movies. I thought Battleship was pretty good, even though it was totally removed from reality. I'd like to see a handful of old men fire up a 80 year old battleship thats been a museum and somehow magically has bullets fuel and such. The aliens did not actually seem that war-like. They only engaged when fired upon and one of them even walked off because he wanted to visit with some wild horses. What I dont understand is, why call for reinforcements? If you're invading a planet, why not have the reserves in orbit ready after the scouting party arrives? In fact, why even have a scouting party if you are a superior civilization that has mastered interstellar flight? I think these movies are made to make everyone think that the military is so cool and badass instead of making a decent movie.

Such a ship and crew, while valiant, would most likely have met the same fate as the HMS Thunder Child from H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds:

Well, the thing is: if an alien invasion really happened, we'd be dead instantly.

Fortunately, there is always a reason such invasions fail.

Nah, you are using a human logic when accessing alien actions. You have to use alien logic to see what was happening:
1) They send a scout party
2) they land and don't know what the enemy is capable of.
3) They isolate the area to test the enemy
4) They halt while making call for reinforcements. They don't need to engage the enemy while waiting since they already acessed the capabilities. No need for extra risk or warfare.
5) Scouts call home = enemy is weak. Scouts don't call home - better not mess with them.
All in all - sounds fne to me

I refuse to watch anything made by Hasbro board games. Hollywood has gotten so desperate and unoriginal it wont pick up original screenplays but existing franchises they can make into trilogies. This was made off a bloody board game. They almost made Stretch Armstrong. I hope this movie bankrupts them.

I realized just how huge a mistake I had made in watching this piece of dreck when they used wave measuring buoys ( coincidentally laid out in a grid pattern) to pick spots to blind fire at these technologically superior foes who's ships had to hop around the ocean.
"Target F4"
I bet Liam Neilson had a "maximum screen time allowed" clause in his contract

i think that the bigger ones were super soldiers made to be bigger and stronger and that the smaller ones were more like scientists
